Does your company promote our labels?

Yes. We promote your label in our sister website www.houseplanet.dj, which attracts 4000 of visitors a day, Myspace, Forums, Blogs, Newsletters, Feed Reader and some Radios all FREE of charge. There is a Promo Tools section in your label log-in which we advice to use
What we can't do for you is promote to your fan base, you should let your fans know when a new release is out and send them some info where to buy or download.

Can I send you Dj Mixes or Free tracks for promotion?

Yes, Dj Mixes and free tracks are a good way to promote your label, please send us your mixes including tracklist and promos to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it we'll then advertise it for you

Can I chose the stores to be distribute to?

Yes, if you have already direct deals with some stores that is no a problem, with us you chose what stores you want your label to be distribute to

My distributor doesn't take care of my label as it should I'm frustrated, will you take care of us?

If your distributor ignore your requests and needs because you are a small label or simply they can't cope, you could come with us.  You won't have that problem we treat all labels the same and have an outstanding customer service, we promise to answer your emails in 24 Hours and don't get annoyed by your requests

80% to start
85% if your annual gross sales is greater than £5000
90% If your annual gross sales is greater than £10000

How do I upload our releases?

All labels have an allocated FTP where they can drop their releases, instructions on how to do this will be provided prior upload. With the amount of labels we have is difficult to get track of the uploads, so we insist that labels should send us an email every time an upload is successfully uploaded to the assigned FTP or your release may be delayed
We provide a very simple Metadata (Excel) to fill for each release which will be provided

What file formats do you accept?

WAV - 16 bits 44 Khz
JPG - 300x300 pixels

When our releases will be in the stores? Can I do Exclusive to Beatport?

We need your release uploaded 1 month before its release date, for Beatport exclusive 16 days.
Bear in mind that the exclusive price is expensive for buyers so please only use the Exclusive option if your release is good enough for it or it won't sell.
Itunes and some mobile networks need 2-3 months, we think this is a long time for labels to wait so after the release is out a month later will be in such stores

How do I check sales? Is this automated? How can I prove you are giving a fair sales report?

Sales will be updated monthly and quarterly in your label log-in page where you can download the reports.
We can send sales estimates from Beatport and some stores every time you ask, you can get one in less than 24 hours.

In the beginning 2009 we'll have an automated system where you can check sales and upload/edit releases

We can send you a prove of your sales from our administrator log-in area if you request it. E.g a picture of Beatport's Baseware showing your sales so you can check we are giving you a fair share, other distributors won't give you this

How do I advertise on Beatport? How much does it cost?

The advertise is free, every week a label genre representative chose release/label to be advertise, we don't have control on this. Beatport advertisement policy provide upon request

How do I get a label/artist page on Beatport?

Again we don't have access to this, they chose label/artist depending on the annual sales, if your label or artists have a Top 100 every release most probably you'll get one. Some labels get the page after only 1 year if they do really well on sales

I am new label, will my label be accepted by Beatport?

Since October 2008 getting approved by Beatport is proving harder for new labels, this affects all distribution companies. Now you have to fill an application form which will be check by two members of the staff.
They are looking for labels with web presence, labels which have a fan base, good music and production, labels that have a good marketing plan and can prove a release schedule for the next 6 months.

Our advice:

• Create an impressive Myspace and add many friends, that way you start your fan base,having a website also helps.

• Designs that will stand out, having a good logo and presence is very important to compete with 1000s of labels out there

• If you have weak productions they won't accept your label.

• Look what is the trend or selling in today's music.

• Have different artists in your label, if you think you are creating a label only to release your music Beatport will spot this and won't accept your label

• We highly recommend to start by signing with us for other stores we distribute to and then apply for Beatport in 3-4 months when your label is more established, you'll have a better chance this way

I don't see my label in Beatport anymore, what's wrong?

if your label doesn't sell $200 every 3 months (Quarter) in a 6 months period it'll most probably be delete from Beatport website

My sales are low this Quarter, Why?

If you release only one release a month most probably you won't make Beatport threshold to be on their site. It shouldn't be like that but for the amount of labels releasing each day is how you can get more exposure. We advice 2 releases minimum a month.
Also think for areas of improvements, did you promote enough this month?
Will you buy your own music? Do my designs stand out?

My release's been delayed, what should I do?

Due to the high amount of releases receiving every day stores, specially Beatport, can't manage this affectively. Please wait 1 day before reporting this to us. If the problem persists we'll contact our label rep to resolve it

Where can I get Beatport charts?

This will be send upon request, best days for handing the charts are beginning of the month
All tracks must be on Beatport already at the time of handing in the chart form, also please check properly for spelling mistakes if not your chart won't be accepted

Can you make a logo for our label? How much does it cost?

We can make a logo for your label for as little as £15

Do you master our releases?

We have on house producer that can master each full release for £30.
